WORDS OF WAR

Based on the real-life story of journalist Anna Politkovskaya’s pioneering crusade for an independent voice in Russia in the late 1990s and early 2000s. She gained widespread international renown for her criticisms of Russian leaders and stands as a pillar of press freedom. In 2006, Anna was assassinated in her apartment elevator which attracted widespread international attention and outrage. The film is a microcosm of a global epidemic in which a staggering number of journalists are silenced and murdered in the pursuit of uncovering and exposing the truth.
